THOR Splash Page with Stewart Johnson!

I did a lot of inking in the 90s for Marvel and I made a lot photocopies! I inked issue 477 of the Mighty Thor with pencils by UK based artist Stewart Johnson. This was a really powerful splash page! Not any room for error on my part because the pencils were so tight. I enjoyed working on it and I inked some other books he did for Marvel.

Bloody Hell Don, I haven't seen that in years, especially the pencil version, which I hadn't seen since I put the original in a FedEx box almost 20 years ago! It was the first page ever drew for an American comicbook. I really liked the inks you did over my pencils, & I requested you as inker a lot more often than I actually got you... for whatever reason. Anyway, thanks for posting it, & it's good to see that these days you're doing much more stella work of your own, rather than simply making my hack pencils look good.. :-)

Hey there Stewart! I am glad you liked the work. It's hard to know with you overseas! I loved doing it! I was able to do an Issue of 'Force Works' I remember, but I think I was all over the place at that time. As for work of my own, thanks. Let me know if you need an inker for whatever you have going on. I will be happy to assist. Hope this finds you well and thanks for checking my blog!

I believe there was an issue of War Machine which we worked on together too, Don. I did a Spider-Man mini for Marvel around that time & requested you as inker, but the editor (Eric Fein I believe) said that the position had already been filled, by Al Milgrom(if memory serves correctly).

I never did much work for Fein. I forgot about the War Machine job! Nice work on that.
